NEW DELHI:

Bank employees’ unions have announced a three-day nationwide strike from September 28 to press various demands concerning wages, employee rights and service conditions.

The strike will be held from September 28 to 30 under the banner of the United Forum of Bank Unions. Since September 26 and 27 are Saturday and Sunday, customers could face disruption in branch-based banking services for five consecutive days.

The unions had earlier staged a strike on September 11. The latest decision is expected to affect banking operations across the country, though digital banking, ATMs, UPI and mobile banking services are expected to remain available.

The State Bank of India has advised customers to complete essential branch transactions in advance and use digital banking channels and ATMs during the strike period. The government has also been holding discussions with public sector bank officials on measures to minimise disruption.

The unions have raised demands relating to wage revision, employee rights and other service- issues.
