After Bengal, egg-therapy in London! Awami League leaders and activists living in Britain were accused of egg attack targeting Bangladesh National Citizen Party or NCP leader and member of Parliament Hasnat Abdullah. London police have reportedly arrested three people. Awami League joint general secretary Afsar Khan Sadek is also among them. The British wing of the NCP strongly condemned the Awami League’s attack as cowardly. However, denying the allegations, the organizers of Awami League in London claimed that there was no such protest program of the league. None of them were involved in the egg attack.
It is reported that the British branch of the NCP organized a function at a restaurant in East London on Monday. Hasnat Abdullah and his party’s joint convener Ehteshamul Haque were invited as chief guests. They were walking in a park before entering the event. Allegedly, at that time some Awami League leaders and workers started protesting around him and Ehteshamul. Fearing for their lives, they took shelter in a local hotel. The protestors started throwing eggs at Hasnat before the police rushed to the spot on hearing the noise. Eggs fell on the organization’s central joint convener Ehteshamul Haque.
The police took swift action and rescued Hasnat Abdullah and Ehteshamul Haque from the public fury. Three people were arrested and taken to a prison van for throwing eggs from the crowd. Due to this incident, the member of Parliament of Bangladesh NCP went to the ceremony almost three hours late. His speech also started late. The British wing of the NCP has virtually silenced the Awami League over the incident. They alleged that Hasina’s party is still continuing the politics of intimidation and intolerance, which is condemnable. However, Awami League has denied the whole incident.
