New Delhi, June 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to arrive in Evian, France, on Tuesday for a two-day engagement at the G7 Summit, which marks the final segment of his two-nation tour.

Upon his arrival, he will be officially welcomed by French President Emmanuel Macron.

During the summit, PM Modi will engage in a working session themed “Forging New Partnerships and Rebuilding International Solidarity.” This session will convene leaders from G7 nations, partner countries, and representatives from significant international organizations, including the World Bank and the African Development Bank.

The agenda is anticipated to cover enhancing international collaboration, tackling global economic issues, and fostering sustainable development.

On the sidelines of the summit, PM Modi is expected to hold discussions with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Additionally, a meeting with US President Donald Trump is on the schedule. Following these engagements, the Prime Minister will attend a gala dinner hosted by President Macron.

This visit to France comes at the invitation of President Macron and signifies India's growing stature in global matters, as well as its expanding role in shaping dialogues on critical international topics. This year marks India's 13th participation in the G7 and PM Modi's seventh consecutive appearance at the summit.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, "India's consistent involvement in G7 Summits underscores the increasing acknowledgment of India's contributions to addressing global challenges related to peace, security, development, and environmental sustainability. At the G7, as well as in international forums like the G20 and the Voice of Global South Summit, India has persistently highlighted the priorities and developmental aspirations of the Global South."

Furthermore, the White House has confirmed that President Trump and Prime Minister Modi will conduct a bilateral meeting on June 17 during the summit.

A senior US administration official indicated that the two leaders are likely to assess the progress of negotiations regarding a proposed India-US trade agreement, which could potentially be the first formal trade pact between the two nations.
